Where have I been recently?

Hi subscribers! I know, its been a long long time since I have blogged. What can I say … one has been a little busy. Now that I have found time to catch up I just wanted to share what I have been up to recently. Last weekend, Saturday 27 August despite the whether threatening to rain for most of the afternoon, it in fact held off and we had a blistering HOT HOT day at AKEBA’s 7th Annual African […]

Don’t Talk To Me I’m Just Looking!

An artist friend of mine and I were on the phone chatting and discussing our art, how things were going, what we were working on and what challenges we were facing etc. At the time of our conversation she was at a market stall somewhere in South London, so every now and again potential customers would stop by and look at her items, ask questions and she would obviously stop our conversation and answer them, as expected. It was at […]

How “Crazy” wasn’t a bad thing after all!

Recently after alot of persuading I managed to get my 9 year old daughter to enter a local art competition.  After ummming and arrrring she finally decided on the piece she was going to exhibit. “What shall I call it mummy?” she asked “Its your piece hon, you decide” I reply She had carefully stuck the label on the back of the mosaic with precision and entitled her piece …”Crazy”. “Interesting title” I thought. My daughter wasn’t overly confident about her submission as she […]

Stunning Results!!

I asked Dionne to create three designs from a piece of african cloth I found on the internet.

Due to her fabulous creativity she designed exactly what I wanted as she incorporated her own style. The results are stunning.

I will be asking Dionne to create me another masterpiece in the very near future.

Something I would do again!

"Dionne came to my house for a mosaic party, ten of my daughters friends (all 5 year old girls) on our kitchen floor making tiles.

It was a fun filled time and all the girls loved it especially the glitter tiles! Dionne was great and it is something I would do again."

Dionne is a talented ambitious and enthusiastic artist!

"It's been a great pleasure and a real cultural benefit to work together with Dionne, setting up together a group show including her artwork at Open The Gate.

What an honor to have her creative and mature pieces delivered in a fine display on our gallery walls! Beside the exhibition we had the opportunity to host two of her children mosaic workshops that were successful: both children and parents attended and had a memorable time discovering and learning mosaic with her in a playful atmosphere.

Dionne is a talented ambitious and enthusiastic artist with a real message and vision we would like to work again with!"
